Asuka being turned into a literal tsundere being a good example of Eva for people who liked Eva for all the wrong reasons, hell this hyper fixation on females that are unrealistic is part of what makes Rei a great character
People think the lore, religious symbolism, deconstruction, or whatever is what makes it deep, but the strong characterization is so perfectly done in the original series that they feel less like 2d characters, and more like real people
this is where 2.22 purposefully flanderizes the characters to make a point that doesn't matter till the next movies, I understand the point but I need something worthwhile here to actually enjoy the film
an artist has the utmost of a critical lense when viewing their work and Anno definitely seems like the type to curse his own work too harshly, I've heard this argument before, my problem is that Eva was always deep whether Anno realizes it or not
