I really don't understand how a thinking person can watch the show and all her scenes and say "doll" without just trolling. Pretty much every scene she's in she's thinking aloud, questioning herself and trying to understand things. She isn't mindlessly doing everything asked of her or wearing pretty dresses. I can understand how Asuka could get that impression, she's not exposed to everything of Rei's character in the way the audience is, but the audience has no excuse to hold onto Asuka's misguided outburst like that.
