Just not to fall into that situation where you use 'wife' and the 2nd party think about "human wife" (damn, dunno how to say it politely) and suddenly it turns into some awkward situations. I know some people with waifu irl and I think it's convenient that they use the word 'waifu' instead of 'wife'.
Heck, I don't want to mistakenly ask some question like "Is she pregnant yet?" to them. Thankfully, as males, we don't talk that much.
