The problem I have with K-On is that (as with all moe shows) it was unrealistically optimistic towards every situation.
In my opinion, I'd have loved to see an alternate scenario where Yui is simply unable to buy Giita and would have to settle for a cheaper guitar, which would give her motivation to really work for Giita - but since she'd already grown with her new guitar, she wouldn't even want to trade for it anymore.
Alas, it was a good show for what it had to work with, especially since the source material is garbage. Just thought they missed a few opportunities, not just for Yui, but for all the characters.
