>>2161853>She was just told that she is "Ayanami Rei"Which is what? It's just a name after all.
Also don't kid yourself! Rei Q doesn't go on about anything for more than a single sentence, even if that. She's not preoccupied with Rei, she is forced to think of something she should have thought of in the first place (but isn't smart enough to do) by others who keep mentioning Rei and tells her there was an original, not mentioning who the original is of course.
>I don't think anyone directly involved in making Rebuild is in any way directly involved with AU SPINOFF It illustrates my point - it's the same type of poor writing for Rei that ends up screwing up the entire character. Rebuild is just merchandise too, and the other works like ANIMA which does have some common names are the same. Khara works have more in common with Rebuild than NGE does, with timeloops and so on. This is the "new" Rei.
>Just now, YOU were saying "clone will/can obviously only be taken to mean the same", and now you're saying THEY're the ones saying it. To clarify, I said that the audience regard it as being the same, it's simple and easy to understand. Clones are a common concept and that's why people said clones long before it actually became canon. People use words they know over more complex ones like transgenic or "artificial replica body". Now that Rei is a clone, unless this is a gross understatement by Fuyutsuki, she will be the same as Yui in body but not mind. Nothing unique or potentially unique.
Evangelion changed from a complex situation with Rei to a simpler one that's only sci-fi because we haven't done human cloning yet due to ethics.
