It's not like I am making up a theory that Anno loves Star Wars and Rei in a blacksuit is her being Vader on the dark side of the force. Maybe that's true but the color of a plugsuit is not real evidience. The telepathic link to Shinji is and even if you believe in the magic loudspeaker the shots of Q standing next to the music player remains undisputable communication through images to the people watching that Q is part of the Shinji-Rei story and there is absolutely no plausible storyline that justifies her time and actions in Rebuild 3 other than her getting her complete soul back in Rebuild 4.
