One the other left out drafts of Eva 3.0 that I found particularly fascinating was Maeda's version that pretty much has all the same story beats as the 3.0 we did get but with a little more elaboration on some of the finer details like how Gendo & Fuyutsuki were able to automate the Eva building process, & how they had so many functional dummy plug'd Evas post 3I and NERV civil war

Greatest sin a story can commit is not telling the most interesting in the story itself.At least Anno has expressed either him or someone else heading a Eva 2.5 and I could see it being made into anything really, from an OVA, Series, manga or film. Sky's the limit really. Like I said in an earlier post that time gap seems to be Eva's equivalent of the Clone Wars tease line in SW Ep IV.
