Sasha's archetype is Alexander Pokryshkin, a Soviet ace who is credited with 65 kills. Pokryshkin flew on the Ukraine front and directly fought against JG-52, though it's not clear whether he ever made personal contact with JG-52's super-aces. He was known by name to JG-52's pilots and respected as an excellent aerial tactician. He mostly flew in American-made aircraft, and the Russian has the distinction of being the highest-scoring ace in the world to use American equipment.
Pokryshkin survived the war and continued to serve in the Soviet Air Force. He died in 1985.
