-Nanachi is said by the other characters to smell noticeably good.
-In her flashback we can see the people around Nanachi complaining that she "smells bad", to the point that she is ostracized and isolated
-We are repeatedly given the cryptic implication that those altered by the Abyss "take on the form of their desires"
Maybe this is how it could manifest. Maybe it's the result of Nanachi wishing, consciously or subconsciously, that she smelled better so that people would like her more.
