But wait, I'm not done yet!
On top of that, the way the upload system works screws artists, especially new ones. Once you get contributor status (upload without mod approval) you can upload whatever you want and it'll stay - for some reason people there absolutely lose their fucking minds when posts are flagged (sends it back to the queue for reevaluation) even though quality control is supposed to be the entire purpose of danbooru. It got to the point where the flagging was made anonymous because flaggers were being harassed with doxxing and death threats and such. It's absurd. I'm not gonna name names but there are a lot of very poor artists on danbooru that only got there because they have a fan with contributor status. It defeats the whole point of quality control when you have neither quality nor control.
But until you get that contributor status, there is only ONE chance for that upload to make it. You can appeal but it merely goes back to the same people that denied it the first time. Unapproved posts are like a black stain on your record that never goes away and each one makes it exponentially harder to obtain contributor status. The upshot of all of this is that it's encouraged to stick to making "safe" uploads from artists that are popular and have many posts on danbooru already. Only once you get that coveted contributor status can you start uploading what you really want. Otherwise you potentially do the artist a disservice by getting a work of theirs basically rejected forever.
Ok now I'm done.
