>>3006044The question is, why? If we imagine ourselves a perfectly well-adjusted human being, a normie if you will, and consider what he thinks or perceives Rei. If he/she is at all interested in Evangelion or Rei, Rei will be perceived as a sad, lonely but also beautiful and brave girl that deserved much more than she got - above all she deserved the appreciation of those around her.
It's not abnormal or at all wrong that they'd want Rei to poka poka a bit more. After all, that is the problem with Rei - her lack of expression and emotional attachment to others, a necessary part of being part of society. Rei's development also involves becoming more aware of her own emotions and personal needs when it comes to others - this is part of Rei's character already. It's also why "happy Rei" warms the heart so much, because she isn't happy.
So what is the problem really? Well, the need for Rei to poka-poka exists because Rei is a lot of things EXCEPT poka-poka, she has a poka-poka deficiency. However, if we were to make Rei just poka-poka - the need for poka-poka would obviously disappear, and Rei would simply not be Rei any more.
That was the threat 2.22 presented and 3.33 realized - of making Rei poka-poka without furthering her character. For seven years now, Rei has been in poka-poka stasis. It was absolutely necessary to continue Rei's character in 3.33, and 3.33 just demolished Rei's character instead, leaving only room for Asuka and Kaworu pandering.
It also means that the "pokanamifag" is a strawman construct. People who use that term simply want one thing: for nothing good to happen to Rei.
