>>4264365> It has some real like hunt for red october kind of clandestine operations kinoHonestly that's really what I'd go for in this story, it sounds like a lot of fun delving into how Kaji learned that there were much greater forces than NERV or even the majority of the angels at play during the whole series would be neat to see.
>Yeah imo of the main 3 Rei is the least explored in every continuity, the Rebuilds give her more time and flesh her a bit more but even by the end when he's in the anti-verse she still has an air of mystery to her. Im glad the greentexts here got to put her in the position of making the choice to reject instrumentality, because i feel its a route that isnt explored very much in the show or in the fanbase. Exploring Rei as a character and dissecting her in instrumentality is something i find very interesting based of the little glimpse of her version that we saw in the show. Expanding on that here would be neat. I almost went in the direction of making a the death of Lilith another second impact, but i feel 3.0 already did something like that and I wanted to shake it up.
>Dude yeah the whole last chapter of the manga after Rei sacrifices herself was real nice to read. Made me wish they had given it a bit more time. Having all three of the pilots there would have been nice. I like the theory that Rei saying she's waiting out there was her actually being direct, and that somewhere out in that world there is a Rei that's living her own life.
