Then over the course of the plot thanks to shinji she learns to express emotions. She even gets to talk to toji. Then there are the maginificent scenes of the smile, of when she runs against zeruel, when she kills arael. Then the Rei II arc ends with her sacrificing herself to save shinji and hints that Rei had feelings for shinji. Also love her designs and themes.
