I felt a connection there since I heard how her classmates talk about her, I was similarly socially inept in my youth, and was bullied by somewhat asuka-like girls (thank you EVA for taking the fear of them away from me), so, I saw this girl who's... like me in a way, but she's also awesome, strong, and caring, and in the end, managed to make at least one real connection/communication in her brief, sad existence. It was inspiring and made gave me hope that even I could do something worthwile.
