>>3324507No, I was talking about Lena. Shooting Star actually ended on a pretty good note for DVa (although I am a little concerned it may limit potential avenues for her in the future by being so self-contained). Alive, on the other hand, I think represents Tracer's lowest point as a character, and the fact that its implications from her perspective have basically been ignored for two-and-a-half years frustrates me because it makes me feel like there was no point to putting her through such an ordeal in the first place.
Hoo boy, I have been dreading breaching this topic, because I knew it would lead to this. I can already tell this is going to be another point of disagreement between you and I, and I agree that I don't want the thread to be bogged down in negativity, so I'll try to restrain myself and diplomatically summarize my main points. It's always been my interpretation that no one is aware (it's not like Talon is going to -tell- them) and therefore just thinks she's a traitor; "brainwashed" to me implies a lack of agency and self-awareness, which she appears to possess, so I prefer to think of her more as being reconditioned into a different way of thinking rather than lacking her own will entirely; her colleagues may well have "done worse", but that doesn't make her own behavior and actions acceptable, especially when we've actually -seen- them firsthand and unobstructed. Talon gets grief from everyone; nobody likes Reaper and even Sombra's own canonical allies seem to hate her guts. In my view, Widow is treated in such a way by some because she's personally antagonized them and they have no further context.
My opinion in short: she's not entirely to blame and she can be reached, but she's also not helping her case by indulging in her actions and stirring up bad blood with those who might otherwise be willing to help. You don't have to share it or even like it, but I needed to speak my piece.
