If robots get involved however that's another story. All PTs (and some AMs) carry some sort of melee weapon - the Wildraubtier carries a Cold-Metal Knife (basically a mecha-sized metal knife), and the Fairlions carry Assault Blades (basically chainsaw-swords), in addiiton to having wrist-mounted blades that are used in the Sonic Cutter and Royal Heart Breaker attacks. The Cold-Metal Knife and Assault Blade can be switched out for other weapons in gameplay - for the Wildraubtier I don't really bother as it's more of a long-ranged unit anyway. the Fairlions (both of them even though Lat only pilots the Type-S) I like switching out the Assault Blades for Shishioh Blades (which are considered the ultimate basic melee weapon, as they have huge weapon power, good terrain rankings and the only limitation to usage is point-blank range).
