>>4079769I don't really care for tsunderes either way, if I'm being honest. I have no positive nor negative feelings for the trope as such, I only care about individual characters. What I like about Rin is that it never truly feels like her character is defined by her being a tsundere, rather her tsundere traits arise from her character in what is mostly a natural fashion. It genuinely feels like Nasu chose to make her that archetype after writing her backstory and character, and felt that it would be the best fit for that character, rather than her character being reverse engineered from the idea of heroine who is not quite prepared to show her feelings for the MC. That probably wasn't the case in reality of course, but it is a testament to Nasu's writing that she feels that way. To specifically answer your question, I like that her tsundere traits are mostly a mixture of her struggling with what she feels she ought to be like considering her status as a mage and also anger born out of worry. I don't think that's necessarily the best way to handle a tsundere though. I like Rin best because she's a compelling character, not just because she's a well-done tsundere. Plus she's hot.
