Either way the popularity of Lain has really gone up and not just on 4chan. The only thing that i can think of that drew attention to SEL would be the halting of Despera due to, again, Nakamura's death. Actually a close friend of mine became a big fan of the show because Kino is his favorite anime, and he found out from the ANN that he directed Lain as well. Damn we lost a talented man.
