The image is trying to imply that they threw in as much as they could without going overboard. The plot/design might be a kind of minimum spanning tree of the graph their brainstorming process lead to. I agree that it's a complete outlier, maybe because of that, I just find it fun that something that feels like it might have been made that way worked.
