1 - Hideaki Anno HAS pissed off a large part of his fanbase, in particular Rei fans.
2 - Rei merchandise is selling considerably less than before, and "new Rei", in particular Rei Q, is not selling at all save for a single garage kit
It's not a question IF he's done it, because obviously he has. I think the answer as to WHY is pretty obvious, but at least we should agree that the above is truth.
