Who was it that wanted to install Linux? I have to warn you, it doesn't "just werk" out of the box like /g/ would have you believe. An internet connection and a lot of patience is mandatory because you will be googling errors and troubleshooting to do even the most basic of tasks like install a program.
>install ubuntu, supposedly beginner friendly distro
>try to install program from ubuntu software center
>it doesn't work
>go online to find out why
>"yeah it's broke and we don't know why, hopefully someone will fix it. just use the package manager"
>try to install program from package manager
>it doesn't work
>go online to find out why
>"yeah it's broke and we don't know why, hopefully someone will fix it. just use the archive manager"
>try to install program from archive manager
>it doesn't work
>go online to find out why
>"yeah it's broke and we don't know why, hopefully someone will fix it. just build from source."
>need to build as root
>sudo make install
>bash: sudo: command not found
>go online to find out why
>"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT YOU FUCKING RETARD, IF YOU TOUCH ROOT YOU FUCKING DIE"
>ok
>turns out what you need to do is 'su -' and then 'apt-get install sudo -y'
>have to reboot for program to work
>hangs at boot
>go online to find out why
>"yeah it's broke and we don't know why, hopefully someone will fix it. just reinstall."
>give up and install windows 7
>it just fucking works
TL;DR Fuck Linux and fuck Ubuntu.
