Perrine isn't my favorite Witch, necessarily. But I've flown planes before myself, and I've read a fair few biographies of WWII airmen. Among all the accounts, Clostermann's book is the best at expressing what it means to be an airman. He describes the joy of flying better than any other biography I've come across. His enthusiasm is infectious in a good way. The sheer joy of it all.
