For example, most people'd have a hard time picking out a Kazumoto Endo record but tell them it's sample based and he'd probably be the first name to mind. You see, noise is one of those genres were you can basically be as crazily varied as you want but as long as your style of noisemaking remains the same you'll probably be easy recognized. Even I admit this in my own music, when I do go into noise territory I nearly always use ring modulators. This could be considered a recognizable noisemaking technique for me, whether I use guitar or violin.
My argument of course is that the entire era of its own ranges from shit to tastelessly mediocre. Sure, his fairly monotone low pitched voice is quite distinct, and yeah, he is damn famous, and he sure as hell is way more influential than anyone or thing out of the same era/scene/genre. That doesn't mean he, on his own, when compared to everyone else, is good.
