>>2172069I hate to spoil you on the latest chapter, but you're not going to understand the conversation if I don't. One of Rowan's girls says Revy should "Come join in the show sometime." and Revy replies "Yeah, one of these days." No embarrassment, no "only if you pay me". While I doubt Revy stripped for free, it seems she isn't totally adverse to doing a free show just for fun occasionally. There's the possibility she's just being polite by not turning down the request out of hand, but honestly when has Revy ever been known for her politeness?
After that Revy goes on to inform some guy that "It’s the seller who puts the price on a rack". That seems like an oddly idealistic view of prostitution coming from a girl as cynical as Revy, honestly. I mean, sure, in RL when some middle class girl decides to catch up on her student loans by becoming a call girl "the seller sets the price". But in Thailand, where the girls sell themselves for pennies on the dollar? A wise man once told me "Ain't nobody want to be a $20 whore", and it's very true. Sex slavery is a major issue in Thailand even today, and yet Revy seems unaware of this. She even flat out directs the guy to other women "turning tricks on the street there, or else go to the Yellow Flag’s(!) brothel."
The whole thing felt like an excuse for Hiroe to spout off his views on prostitution, which are basically him taking his experiences as a middle class Japanese man and thinking that's the reality everywhere. But he's the author, so what're you gonna do?
