I realize I’m late to the party on this, but I needed some time to digest the news and process my thoughts before I get this off my chest. I would say I’m disappointed about the PvE mode, if the past few years hadn’t already left me so jaded with Blizzard that this doesn’t even feel like a disappointment, but rather like just more of what I’ve come to expect.
I’ve heard some people characterize this as bad faith on their part, and while I’m sure they’re not telling us everything and trying to put a company-friendly spin on things, I don’t think this was their intention all along. To be honest, as much as it hurts, they may have even made the right call, as it sounds like it wasn’t really shaping up that well. Whatever the case, I suppose we’ll never know for sure now.
Still doesn’t really take the sting out of it, though. Oh well; here’s hoping the devs take this chance to reassess their capabilities moving forward, and perhaps the uproar this has generated will drive them to deliver -something- in the future. Apologies for the long post; I just needed to get this out.
