The storytelling in the TV series has the same pitfalls already. People just kinda forgot about it. At least I had forgotten about it until this rewatch. Or maybe I wasn't as attentive when I watched Evangelion before.
I don't know... somehow I wish I didn't think of rewatching the series and going through with it.
