If you only text post then using sage will not bring the thread to page 1 - again I do this multiple times (quite literally did it yesterday) and recommend that you try textposting but entering sage in the options field.
I don't know how else to explain other than, textpost + sage will not send the thread to page 1, I've seen it be used on /c/ multiple times. if you don't believe me then try.
