She was a King who loved her people more than anything, she wouldn't let that change simply because of something like genetics. She would have loved them no matter what was wrong with them, as long as they were her people.
As for me, a science inclined engineering student who knows a bit more than the average bear about genetics, I could be convinced that there is a healthy form of selective breeding or something akin to it. But in today's political climate I would be opposed to it outright.
