No one quite fills the earnest, energetic tomboy-shaped hole in my heart like Chie, but I think they’re all pretty great girls.
I’m not very entrenched in the fandom, but something I got the impression of is that the non-party member romances were generally higher-tier than the ones in P4. I feel like in P4 characters like Ai, Yumi, and Ayane are generally considered inferior options to the girls in your party, but P5 has some strong non-party ladies.
There are less moments where your group gets to hang out as friends though, which people seem to wish there was more of.
