Have you tried to learn Japanese for your waifu? I'm not as good at it as I wished to, at least to the point where I can perfectly understand what she is saying without subtitles or reading most of her lines without a dictionary.
Someone once said you can't fully know your waifu unless you understand her language, since a lot of nuance is lost in the translation. I can't help but agree.
