>>2325791>I'm not saying Rei is in the music player. I am saying the music player is a plot point in the story.Definitely, and I've argued that very seriously since long before 3.0, after I saw 2.0.
But nothing of what you said is actually validated, and your conclusion (a non-sequiteur) doesn't prove anything regarding Rei Q being Rei.
You're also wrong that it symbolizes Shinji's attempt to save Rei in 2.0. It's much simpler than that - it's hope and trust. This was evident already in 2.0, as it represents something Shinji longs for so he carries it with him. Then when he loses faith, he throws it away, and Rei picks it up bringing it back to Shinji, restoring hope.
In 3.0 this is validated in the same fashion, and now we have classic directorial techniques in cutting to the SDAT while the word "hope" is uttered. It is very simple, and like previously Shinji throws it away when he loses hope.
But as far as Rei Ayanami the character goes, it is a different thing entirely. Kaworu also puts interest in the SDAT player, that does not make him Rei. Anyone who touches is or handles it, such as WILLE are not Rei either.
As far as being Rei goes, Rei Q is not Rei. It's that simple. She's supposed to be mistaken for Rei, which is what you are doing.
It is both insulting to Rei, and Rei Q as it denies both of them any sort of individuality, since you are conflating two people.
Practically speaking, the question about whether or not Rei Q is Rei is moot - because what we see in 3.0 is entirely disconnected to the character we've seen earlier. It doesn't matter which, because the character is ruined regardless of which is true. It has no thoughts, emotions, goals or any sort of motivation that are at all relevant to the story.
Rei from 1.0 and 2.0 is living 14 years in the past, and the character lacks the credibility needed to be considered good or great.
