Danderes could in theory become greatest friends ever, BUT you need some glue/attraction, since before the ice break they are as inert as it gets, if not hostile.
Rei is a nice girl so she wouldn't even touch someone-elses's glasses, or she'd dump the printouts into that mailbox since the rest is not her business.
But after episode 6 they'd start getting closer, trade books and have those high-phylosofical discussions which would be endlesly fascinating.
In the end they'd be the most gloryous partners ever. Rei already is a samurai-kamikaze-child-soldier-spartain-girl. Only three spartain samurai is better than two.
