Eventually she takes in a globally hated half-elf, raises her like a mother/teacher, saves and trains humans that enter her forest which is something strictly forbidden, even leaves her post to watch over her 'daughter'. So yes, I do like the change. She becomes more open-minded and it shows how big her heart is.

She's 1000 years old, there's no telling what she's been through and when she is on the screen she's only shown being calm and completely rational in every situation. Doesn't even try to kill villain's, just tells them to leave the forest. She's shown that she can be a hardened strategic general and that she can be a massively emotionally soft dork.
