>>3359591Alright, I’ve had a little break, but I’m back for real this time! I can concur with that assessment; I just think she had/has the potential to become more amenable to the position. A lot can change in, let’s say, ten or fifteen years, and perhaps with that degree of a service history and someone with more firsthand experience to acclimate her to the rigors of the post, she could adjust to be rather receptive. But that is admittedly speculation on my part (though I don’t consider it baseless), so in the meantime, a position that allows her to remain active and alongside her colleagues would probably best suit her. That story sounds uniquely and gloriously stupid in that special way only bad fanfiction can be. The small, morbid part of me wants to read it, but the rest of me is crying out in protest for my psychological well-being.
That is a disconcerting idea, and I won’t deny that I’ve thought about it myself. I wouldn’t put it past them, but I also think it hinges on the comparisons being more definitive. For instance, the only hard parallels for Brigitte and Pharah in those regards are “is a healer” and “is an Amari”, which is a pretty broad place from which to reach a conclusion. They could just as easily be employing the literary foil technique of seasoning the cast with similarities to further highlight their contrasts, which is fairly innocuous and might even have the opposite effect for all we know (“These characters are similar, but since they have hindsight on their side, things will be different this time”). That could change, but we won’t know for sure until we actually see progress, so try not to fret overmuch in the meantime.
Also, yay finally! I like this skin, and it’s like the first proper and conventional good one she’s gotten in almost two frickin’ years! It’s nice to feel good about her again, but also kinda weird, like seeing an old friend for the first time in years.
