I understand that since this is from a video game, it has the perfect excuse of needing to clearly differentiate between male and female characters from a game play standpoint. You don't want to pick a female avatar, put on some armor and look practically the same as if you'd picked male. I understand that part. The problem I have is that it's extremely prevalent outside of games as well, in situations where there's pretty much no reason for it outside of fap bait. I don't hate fanservice but there's a time and a place, yanno?
But I wouldn't have a problem with any of this is I didn't think it looked so God damned goofy to begin with. But that's enough of my ranting on the subject. People like what they like, there's truly no accounting for taste.
