>>3872591For me, the most powerful tear-inducing moment probably was Hanako's panick attack (thanks to Cold Iron and the amazing sequence of illustrations, too) + the scene where Hisao and Lilly go to see her in the evening (with Hanako lying on the bed).
I felt so... helpless. It was a stark reminder that those scars and that social anxiety weren't there just for design purposes: just when Hanako seemed to have become a little more familiar with Hisao and her surroundings, bang! A fist full of memories right in the face. It was probably then that I truly started caring about her as a person and not as a cute, somewhat autistic anime girl. I started caring about her not because I thought she was "broken" or something like that, but simply because I wanted to know and understand her better. And I think that her route does a great job about it, refuting the stereotype of the fragile and broken girl waiting for a white knight. So yeah, the panick attack-related scenes showed Hanako's troubled side, but lead to a very different (and more satisfactory) outcome than expected.
Enough of the fag talk, pic (more or less) unrelated
