>>2844782I haven't really done anything in color, Yui or otherwise. The only thing I've got is this:
http://i.imgur.com/dhsR1Mp.jpg(it's a lot rougher than usual because I used strictly pen for it, only using pencil for the fade in the back).
And that's just coloring with ballpoint pens (which is awful, but it's what I've got in class), but I haven't actually experimented coloring pencils. I am actually terrified of them because I feel like they "pretend" to shade like a normal HB pencil, when in reality all they do is smudge and make things look awkward and impossible to blend other colors in.
And that's another thing, the fact that I only draw in black and white and that I don't do digital art is kind of a killer towards starting up an account on pixiv. I don't think anyone is particularly interested in what I do because it's a rather primitive art, considering that photoshop and drawing tablets exist everywhere nowadays.
As for how long it took to make it, it took me 5 days during class (three of those ended at around noon, two at 4 o'clock). I'd say it was at least 10 hours. Of course, it might take less time if you're not under pressure by making sure you're not seen by the teacher, and having access to reference material.
The actual process consisted of an initial sketch, outlining and early shading with pencil, then tracing everything with the ballpoint (with minor shading here too) and then the rest of the shading with pencil. Limited amount of materials make it a little more challenging, but also fun in a way.
One thing is for certain, I'm definitely glad I took my time with this, it's like you said, I want to give Yui my very best.
