I do think that does partially reflect a shounen mindset, but I think it's also a thing where they completely ignore or misunderstand everything preceding that about Rin's arc. The point of the conclusion is to show how Rin has completely accepted her idealistic side over her "pragmatic", magus side thanks to Shirou and chosen to support him in achieving his ideal. That's the significance of her saving Shinji despite how easier it would be to not do so. If you don't pay attention to Rin before that you're not gonna realize it.
