I hate her because she never seems to start making a genuine effort to actually improve in her magical ability. Diana Cavendish (who we see in the first episode in the crowd watching Chariot's performance) was similarly inspired by Chariot, it seems, to pursue magic. However Diana has actually been diligent and capable in her studies.
Akko lacks the dedicated effort, with no talent. If she had the talent but put in no effort, I could even understand that. But those with a dream to achieve must have at the VERY least one or the other, to be acting rationally towards their goal. With no dedicated effort and no talent, it's basically tossing coins in a fucking well.
I'm already halfway into the second season and she has barely any improvement whatsoever. At least fucking Naruto worked to master the thing he had always been weak against and ended up using it as his signature skill, and continued to put in hard work and actually improved continually. He may have been infuriatingly stupid at times, but always redeemed by his honest heart and hard work, and of course the power of friendship.
Akko is basically "POWER OF FRIENDSHIP YAY" with literally nothing else. It's confounding.
That said, it's cute as fuck. I plan to finish the series but I really hope it improves and Akko gets fixed before I fucking shoot myself in the brain. Sucy is best girl though, EAT THIS MUSHROOM!
