>>3492365I see your point, although I think it's a bit hyperbolic considering the "invasion" was explicitly aligned with the UK's own interests by securing the safety of its assets and citizens from a hostile force. I'm not dismissive, but I also don't think a world of talking gorillas and time travel is an ideal platform to make an issue of this. I suppose I just don't take it as seriously or personally as you, or at least not as much as I would in real life, where the geopolitics of humanitarian interventionism are intensely problematic and disingenuous. But in the context of a world of altruistic cyberpunk superheroes who can and did save the day with no apparent collateral damage, I don't see much of a tangible reason to be upset. I just think it's cool and makes for a fun story that lets some of my favorite characters be heroes. In my opinion, the -real- problem with Uprising is that it doesn't really matter, since Mondatta is now dead and tensions in London are right back to where they were before. Lena's identity is built on taking the initiative to make a difference, yet her whole arc so far has been a goose chase. Perhaps that could change with meaningful development, but the prospect of progress tends to make the writers hiss and retreat to their cocoons, so in the meantime I choose to enjoy and make the most of what we have.
RIP in Peace in Reese's Pieces. Sorry for the delay; I've been swamped with obligations and nursing a migraine for the past three days. Otherwise, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's nice and dreary where I am right now; good nap weather.
