>>2765484>Dummy plugs aren't alive, you idiot. The show explicitly says they're soulless and are only meant to make the Eva believe that there is a pilot. But it's the Dummy plug that controls the EVA. Remember, EVA00 isn't using a dummy plug, but probably something similar. Dummy plug implementation != dummy plug.
>Also not true. Ritsuko was behind the glass during both of the Eva rampages, and in particular was paranoid that the Eva was attacking her. This does not mean that the Eva was actually attacking her, however her paranoia believed so. That's more than enough proof to show that it is a fragment of Rei I's soul. Not at all, Rei I has zero relationship with Ritsuko. If anything is fanwank, it's this. The scene forces both Rei and Gendo to the forefront, those are the focus, not Ritsuko.
>Except that she has died before? Yes? Rei I? Strangulation? Etc etc? >Furthermore, this theory does not state that Rei has multiple souls, it states that her singular soul was split in two. This also explains the (massive) personality changes within I, II and III. The personality changes in Rei are explained best by Rei in episode 25: the passage of time and interaction with others. A huge point of the series. The changes in Rei's personality is best explained by this. No soul-split is actually needed.
I know the soul-split theory in and out, but I favor the idea that there is no soul in EVA00 and that it is all contained in Rei. While I know there is one error in the Red Cross Book, that doesn't mean that everything else is false. Who knows, it might even be a translation error?
So why not some other system of control that the show hints at all the time? It'd be lunacy to discount the theory.
