It's been 3.5 years for me now I think with Yui - at first while I was excited about the show I told some close friends who were a bit amused and watched a few episodes, but then stopped. I showed another friend (who's familiar with 4chan etc) my Christmas shrine/cake in some appropriate context and it was met positively.
Otherwise nothing special. I've mentioned the show a few times but not gone into further detail. And I've had people in my room who saw my Yui figs (I only have Yui figs, so they stand out) and they've either not said anything or asked briefly what it is. I would explain the show and say she's my favourite character, and since I never got much deeper questions about it, I left it at that.
So I've only had good experiences, but they're quite rare and limited.
