Tenpei Sato does an amazing job at the soundtracks for the Disgaea series, I've had his music on my ipods/mp3players for over a decade, and still listening to them.
The games themselves, while grindy, always have a lot of story and depth, and I can spend over a hundred hours per game and not get tired of them.
The series is very well known for it's fourth-wall breaking humor, and I really like that, not taking itself TOO seriously, but serious enough to make for a compelling story.
Etna has her own story mode ever since the first port of the game to PSP!! All about her~ And I love it. She also gets cameos in all the new games as well, I really appreciate NIS for doing that.
