>>4108121>What kind of hoops do they have to jump through to think a main character isn't relevant? It's rather simple, actually; the plot (ie. the moment to moment events) is not driven by Shirou's romance with Rin. Rather, the plot revolves around Shirou's conflict with Archer and does not as such revolve around Rin's own struggles as a magus. Of course, this just reflects how the plot is always just a skeleton to hang the themes and characters of a story upon, and not the actual meat and heart of it. Rin's romance has a massive role to play in Shirou's character development and her own struggles are explored in tandem and parallel with Shirou's across many amazing and nuanced character interactions -- but really, who's going to pay attention to THAT? Most people don't really care to think about things all that deeply if they don't already like or even love on them on a superficial level. Most of the people who say that didn't give a shit about Rin in the first place so despite the fact that her character development and the beats in her romance are hardly subtle their being less obvious and transparent than those of Saber and Sakura (ie. have more subtlety than being hit with a truck) means people who don't care much to pay attention to Rin and are also not all that intelligent (which let's be honest is most people) completely miss everything about her character and the entire point of the route.
People who are Rinfags who say similar things are far fewer in relative numbers of course but they tend to do so because they feel insecure about the fact that Rin's romance isn't as dramatic as the other two and the plot isn't driven by it in the same way the plots in the other two routes are.
As for El-Melloi and FSF, it's not a comedic role really but I still don't really like it. Doesn't really do anything with the character.
