>>3715572For all my life I have had a natural attraction to media with animal characters. I am calm and peaceful and this has never particularly bothered me. However, a lot of people online are very vocally against animal fans, so I had to rationalize it as me being different and simply carrying on without thinking about it. I was in denial for over a decade, until about 2+ months ago. I had an epiphany and it really, really, really hit hard. As my current self, I openly accept that I am a furry (which I define as someone who has an enthusiasm for cartoon animals that is above average). I think people here are in the same boat but reject the label because it is uncomfortable. The Japanese idea of "complex" helped me accept it more easily.
To put it more simply and less stupidly: I like it just because it has a natural appeal to me.
