I liked the opening of 2.0 that had him at one of the NERV outposts doing his usual silver tongue act to get the Key of Nebuchadnezzar and wish they would've elaborated on it more in one of the continuities. >Id also like to add more to Rei, since things kind of focused on her for a bit at the end.Yeah imo of the main 3 Rei is the least explored in every continuity, the Rebuilds give her more time and flesh her a bit more but even by the end when he's in the anti-verse she still has an air of mystery to her. She's such a nice character that deserves more. That scene in the second rebuild where she's talking about how being around Shinji makes her feel warm and happy and that she wanted to return the favour with the dinner is real sad in retrospect when she basically lives alone in u01 for 14 years afterwards. Even her death in 3.0 + 1.0 where she basically just tells Shinji she liked him before she goes tang mode was sad. Her relationship to him is such a strange balance between like, shy moe girl who secretly likes the protag, and like a sister character. Most of the fics tend to write her in a sister role too
>an SoL epilogue sounds comfy af.Dude yeah the whole last chapter of the manga after Rei sacrifices herself was real nice to read. Made me wish they had given it a bit more time. Like that shot where he pulls Asuka out of the train and it's just the shot of them holding hands as he has a deja vu moment was peak. And the ending shot with the glint from Misato's cross dangling from Shinji's bag was a perfect bittersweet note to end on
