I know there's tons of fanfiction for Eva that picks up right at the last frame of OMF:INY like "You can (not) Redo" to name an example. And ofc people have wondered what happened after that final shot for almost 30 years at this point and we're no closer to an answer because of how cryptic Anno seems to love to be; only stepping in if it's to dispel an interpretation he seems displeased with (i.e. when people said Misato could've killed Kaji bc of the shot of her door right after, so then he had the episode re-edited to remove that shot as to quash that implication. Or when people took the ending from Thrice and inferred that Mari was supposed to be a stand in for Anno's wife Moyoco and he stepped in to say that wasnt the case. Though with the latter an interpretation of Mari as a symbol or manifestation of the change in his life that could or could not be something catalyzed by his marriage during the pre-production of the first Rebuild is unaffected by Anno's direct word on it not being a direct and explicit representation of his wife)
