Watching the hillside discussion between Madoka and Homura about halfway through Rebellion is extremely moving whereas seeing a drawing of them kissing is so robbed of gravitas and context that I think it's insulting to the source.
Maybe my interpretation of the series involves projecting, but there's nothing wrong with doing that. I empathize rather than self-insert and I am absolutely free to criticize the quality and tact of fantasies people draw and post on the internet.
