More specifically I'm thinking if there was some event in their past that started it all, since Kirino and Kyosuke seemed to get along quite well when they were younger. In addition there's Kirino's reaction to Manami, and there are parts where Kirino shows longing towards a time when things were better.
It's just speculation of course, it could very well be that they just drifted apart. Maybe it's just part of me that wishes there would be something significant to it that would later come as a surprise. Regardless, I do think that Kirino and Kyosuke going back to address their past situation could make for a powerful scene.
