but i also really like retake, and i see it as a great continuation of the story (which given the nature of the final movie could actually be canon), but also as a great expression of another artist/authors emotions. i love it just as much, same goes for the official manga as well.
Evangelion has always been abiut expressing emotional vulnerability and subsequent maturity, emotional growth. and i think all incarnations of eva do a wonderful job of showing this.
